Celebrating Christ's Resurrection at Sunrise!

Join Alexandria Presbyterian Church for our annual Easter Sunrise Service at Market Square in Old Town, Alexandria located at 301 King Street.

Our Easter Sunrise Service begins at 7:00am just as the sun is coming up. We will celebrate Christ's resurrection through singing, prayer, scripture reading and a special Easter Sunrise message from Pastor Tom Holliday.

Hot coffee and light refreshments will be provided.

Why do we celebrate easter?

"For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised...But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep". (1 Corinthians 15:16, 20)

For over 25 years, Alexandria Presbyterian Church has publicly proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ in Market Square, Alexandria—that the creator of the world became a man, was killed by his own creation, and then victoriously rose from the grave, so that we could find forgiveness and new life in him.

Why did Jesus have to die? The Bible teaches, “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins” (Hebrews 9:22). And since all humans are sinners—imperfect people in need of redemption (Romans 3:23)—Christ’s sacrificial death on the cross was the answer to our salvation. The Apostle Paul wrote, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9).

APC’s prayer is that the people of Alexandria may experience the new life that Christ offers, seeing that Christianity is not just a set of abstract ideas about God, or a list of rules about how to reach Him, but rather a relationship with God that transforms our lives. Jesus said, “Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water’” (John 7:38). At APC, our prayer is that the current of Christ’s living waters would flow ever stronger through the D.C. area and the world.

APC is a body of believers growing together in the love of God, and in deeper community with one another. We look forward to celebrating Christ's resurrection together!
