WORSHIP

"How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God...  Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you."

Psalm 84:1-2,4

Joining us for the first time?

For over 20 years, APC has been blessed to worship at the building owned by Del Ray Baptist Church on Russell Road. It has been a great partnership, and the Lord has grown both congregations. Because of limited space, and a desire to expand our reach to the City of Alexandria, we now offer a second worship service at our West Braddock Road campus. Despite worshiping at two times in two locations, we are one church family. The same pastor preaches the same sermon at both services. We attend the same Covenant Fellowship Groups, social events, and Sunday night programs for adults, youth, and children.

What should I expect when I come?

Expect a friendly welcome; we’d love to have you come and worship with us at APC. Our worship services typically consist of music, prayer, Bible reading, opportunities to confess faith and sin, and a sermon on a particular portion of the Bible. It is important that you feel welcomed into our church family. When you visit APC, we invite you to join us after worship for a cup of coffee or tea. This is a great opportunity for you to meet others and learn more about our church.

What do I do with my kids?

If you plan to come with children, you can keep them with you in the service or place them in the nursery up to age 5. One of our greeters will be happy to direct you. At an age appropriate level they enjoy free-play with other kids, a snack, music, singing, and a bible lesson. Children ages 5-7 have the opportunity to begin worshipping in the service and leave at a directed time for Children’s Church, being picked up after the service. We have safety procedures in place and all our volunteers who work with young ones, are trained in a child, youth and safety policy with required background checks. The safety and well being of our church family is very important to us.

Worship Style

We offer a blended style of worship at APC. Both worship services include contemporary praise music and traditional hymns, and the Russell Road service also features Adult and Youth choirs. But worship is not only about the music we sing, nor about listening to a sermon. Worship is a re-telling of the gospel — the glory of God, our brokenness and need for redemption, and the grace of God manifested in Jesus Christ who redeems us. Each Sunday, we have the opportunity to respond to these truths, because good worship is a dialogue. As God speaks to us, we respond to Him in song, prayer, adoration, and in service to one another.
