Weekly Announcements

This past Sunday kicked off APC's "AriseStewardship of Life" series.  Sunday was an exciting day in the history of APC as we launched our building campaign, entitled “Arise".  A special video was shown at the conclusion of worship and packets containing valuable information about our next steps were distributed. If you did not receive a packet, you can pick one up this Sunday. We will be sending out an email each Thursday over the next several weeks sharing information while we move forward in this journey as the Lord continues to lead us.

APC has a new Website and Database/Directory. The new website may be accessed at the same url: alexandriapres.org. It has a new look and feel, so do check it out! To access the website member area, active members and regular attenders will be sent a separate email in the next couple of days with a password and instructions to navigate and find what you may need.

Nursery Volunteers: be sure to look for an email invitation from Sign-up Genius on Monday, March 18. Please sign up for a date or dates that fit your schedule for the nurgery quarter April through June. Thank you for serving in the nursery!

Worship and Testimony Night—Sunday, March 31 from 5-6:30pm in the RRC Sanctuary.  Join the APC family for a special time of lifting our voices in praise with worship led by the Praise Team, and hearing several powerful testimonies from fellow APCers of God’s work in their lives.  We encourage children and teens 4th grade and older to participate in this evening of worship. Nursery and childcare will be available for children 3rd grade and under. PROTAS and Explorers will not be meeting.

C.S. Lewis Institute Applications due April 15. APC highly recommends the CSLI Fellows Program. If you are interested in applying to be a Fellow, visit the website below or speak to someone at APC after worship this Sunday. This year-long discipleship program is for believers who are already established in their faith, are highly motivated to grow deeper in their knowledge of and obedience to Jesus Christ, and who desire for God to use them more effectively in the work of His Kingdom. The Program focuses on the integration of heart and mind in a small group context, and is designed to dramatically alter the trajectory of spiritual growth. A combination of focused Bible study, dynamic teachers, classic writers, experienced mentors, effective small groups and active response to the Word and the Spirit helps believers mature in their ability to articulate, defend and joyfully live out their faith in public and personal life. More info here. Also, if you are interested in being a mentor, contact chris.sicks@alexandriapres.org to learn more. We hope to match up APC Fellows and Mentors in small groups to go through the program together next year.

APC Men’s Retreat – May 3-5 at Massanetta Springs, VA.  Registration for the Men’s Retreat will start on March 24. Our keynote speaker for the weekend will be Rev. Glenn Hoburg from Grace D.C. PCA. Glenn will be speaking to the weekend’s theme of “Living Stone” from 1 Peter 2:4-5. On Friday, May 3, plan to take the day off (or half day off) of work and join us for hiking, fishing and hanging out while enjoying the smell of roasting pig! The pig roast dinner will be from 5:30-8pm. You don’t want to miss this! The cost of the retreat is $155/person with an early bird rate of $145. Please don’t let finances be a reason for you not to attend.  We have both partial and full scholarships available and want you to be able to join us.  Please email Josh Diack at josh.diack@alexandriapres.org if you would like a scholarship. We also have carpooling available so keep that in mind if transportation is required.

It’s hiring season at KICS (the school in Rwanda where Ben & Susie Thomas serve and where APC has sent a team the last three summers). If you are in education (as a teacher, counselor, artist, IT administrator, etc.) would you prayerfully consider whether God might be calling you to serve at KICS?  If you know someone in education that you think might be a good fit, would you share this with them?  Rwanda is a great place to live, work, and grow. For more info click here.  You can also contact Ben directly at director@kicsrw.org.

Needs and Prayers

Prayer request from Cindy Cai: Please pray for my oldest sister, Bingqing, who is recently diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia, a very rare and painful illness. Medication prescribed has strong side effects and surgery has very high risks. Please pray God will heal her, and guide and bless all the details concerning the treatment. She professed faith in the Lord Jesus in 2011 but has not walked with the Lord because her husband is not a believer. Please pray that she will truly live for Jesus and her husband will be saved as well. May God also use this opportunity to help us as a family to love each other more. All our siblings are very concerned. Please ask God to help us to know how to help and support her.
