Weekly Updates
If you would like to take a look at this week's worship bulletin, we've included it here:
March 07, 2010
You'll be able to review the entire order of worship, including Pastor Holliday's sermon text, along with current Sunday morning information such as ministry workers, Sunday School class descriptions, and upcoming announcements/activities.
For your convenience, we've also reprinted the announcements from this week's worship bulletin below:
Congregational meeting TODAY, 12:00-12:45pm in the Fellowship Hall: Session has called a meeting of all members to (a) present the 2009 financial results, (b) present the 2010 budget, and (c) update the membership regarding our discussions with Del Ray Baptist Church (DRBC).
Women’s TableTalk Dinners—Saturday, March 20th: Sign up now for the upcoming quarterly dinners, where women have the opportunity to come together in groups of 4-6 for an intimate dinner in one of the group member’s homes. These dinners are a wonderful—and non-intimidating—way for newcomers and long-time members alike to make new friends and deepen existing relationships. Sign up at the Information Booth or contact Tina Brady.
Baptism Service—March 21st: The next baptism service will take place on March 21st. If you would like to have your child(ren) baptized on this date, please contact Tom Holliday.
The APC Youth Choir will be singing in the Palm Sunday (March 28), Maundy Thursday (April 1) and Easter (April 4) services. All youth from 3rd grade on up are encouraged to participate. Sunday rehearsals will be held from 10:30-11:15am in Room #303 on March 7, 14, 21, 28. We’ll rehearse in the sanctuary on Saturday, March 20 from 9-10:15am. Please sign up to participate at the Information Booth or contact Gale Manor at gale.manor@verizon.net or 703-516-0796.
Maundy Thursday Service—April 1st, 7:30pm: Please join the APC family as we meet to reflect in a special way upon the crucifixion, suffering and death of our Savior with scripture readings and music provided by the APC youth and adult choirs, praise team and instrumentalists. Communion will be served before we leave the service in the dark as we await the resurrection of our Lord.
Easter Services Schedule:
March 28: Palm Sunday Worship, 8:50am—Sanctuary
April 1: Maundy Thursday Service, 7:30pm—Sanctuary.
April 4:
Easter Sunday Annual Sunrise Service, 7:30am—Market Square in Old Town / 301 King Street.
Easter Breakfast, 8:30am—Fellowship Hall.
Easter Sunday Worship, 10:00am—Sanctuary
All Church Retreat, June 4-6: Plan now to join the entire APC family for three days at NorthBay on the Chesapeake. Hiking, swimming, boating, lounging, laughing...the list of fun things is really quite long. Friday traffic on I-95 North is the one challenge we face, so you may want to take the day off and beat the rush. More details to come. Learn more about the site at: www.northbayadventure.com.
Communion preparation—an opportunity to serve: We are still seeking one volunteer team (preferably a married couple without children) to handle communion preparations each month. This is a once per month commitment—setup prior to the service takes approx 20-30 minutes (preparing the trays of cups/juice and bread/crackers), and approx 10 minutes after the service to dispose of unused elements and clean up. To volunteer, contact Chris Joyce; questions about the preparation process, contact Liz Balmer.
Sign up for softball NOW! APC will once again have three teams for the Alexandria Church Softball League. Games begin April 12th and run through June, and are played on Monday and Thursday evenings (6:45/8:00/9:15pm) at Four Mile Run field (on Mt. Vernon Ave.). Teams are open to anyone 12 yrs or older, and each team must field at least 3 players who are either women, under 16 yrs or over 64 yrs. Sign up by March 14th in the Fellowship Hall—there is a $15 player fee. Teams will then be selected and practices will be announced. This is a terrific time of fellowship and opportunity to meet others from APC (and other churches in the community). Questions, contact Gary McGee.
