Men's and Women's Ministries
Men and women play an equally vital role in the life of the APC congregation. There are many opportunities for both men and women to lead and serve in our church and our community. We also offer both men's and women's Bible studies, as well as bi-annual men's and women's retreats. And for the women, the quarterly TableTalk fellowship dinners are a great way to meet other women and build relationships.

Adult Education
APC offers a wide variety of educational opportunities for adults of all ages and stages of their Christian faith:
Crown Financial Ministries:
Crown Ministries is a 10-week small group study, learning and putting into practice biblical principles of life stewardship. Study topics include: our responsibility with finances; debt; counsel; giving; work; saving/investing; training children; contentment; and an eternal perspective. Graduates become consistent savers, generous givers, and prudent consumers. And more importantly, these people are entering into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ as they learn to apply His Word. This study is offered several times throughout the year and includes scripture memorization, daily homework, and a commitment to pray daily for your small group members. There is a cost for the books.
Sonship:
Sonship, a 16-week course developed by World Harvest Mission, goes a step beyond the adult Sunday School classes, combining group lecture and small group discussion as it examines our justification and adoption as sons and daughters of God. In a very practical way, this course focuses on what it means to live each day as a child of God.
Many of us understand the faith intellectually, but our hearts have not quite kept up with our heads. Sonship is designed to help you take some of the glorious theological truths of the gospel -- truths that you may know in your head -- and apply them to the nitty gritty reality of daily life. You'll find that as the gospel re-makes you, there is greater joy and desire to share the wonderful news of God's lovingkindness with others.
Sonship is offered at APC once each year, beginning in January and running for 16 weeks (not including breaks for Easter and SuperBowl Sunday). There is no cost to APC members for course materials. Childcare is provided, and both the children's Explorers ministry and the teen's Protas ministry meet at the same time as Sonship. For more information or to register for this course, contact the church office.
Additional information about Sonship can be found at World Harvest Mission.
Sunday School:
Adult Sunday School classes are held on a quarter system, with class options changing four times per year. Class descriptions are listed below. You may visit any class at any time during the quarter.
Spring Quarter (March 7—May 30, 2010)
Nehemiah
Led by Elder Gary McGee
The church today doesn’t need more walls, but it does need more Nehemiahs — people who will build and strengthen God’s kingdom. Learn to be one of them! This class is about Nehemiah’s personal walk with God and his leadership. He was a man for his time who wanted to see things happen...and he was willing to do his part. We will focus on Nehemiah as both servant and leader. Explore his life and you will discover what it means to be a builder of Christ’s church.
Biblical Marriage
For women, led by Renee Porter and Lynn Streett
Is the Biblical model for romance, marriage and human sexuality still reasonable in the 21st Century? Join us as we discuss Anthony Selvaggio’s book, What the Bible Teaches About Marriage. We will consider the Biblical ideals and the effects of sin, as we also look to our Redeemer who redeems all of life, including human sexuality and male/female relationships. We will see Christ’s love for His Bride, and how He uses marriage to enhance our ability to experience His love and our ability to show love to others, even beyond our spouses. Come join women of all ages as we seek to encourage each other!
2 Timothy
Led by Elder Jeremy Root and Matt Brown
Imprisoned for the second time, abandoned by many of his closest associates, and believing his execution imminent, Paul writes a farewell letter to his “beloved” co-worker Timothy. Believed by many to be Paul’s last letter, 2 Timothy is filled with exhortations and words of encouragement meant to gird Timothy for Paul’s departure and to strengthen Timothy’s resolve to guard the truth of the Gospel and to fearlessly preach its message. Join us as we study these final words of Paul, that we may encourage one another to fight the good fight, finish the race, and keep the faith.
Encouragement, the Key to Caring
Led by Pastor Tom Holliday
Tom Holliday will lead this class on the topic of encouragement, drawing from the book, Encouragement, The Key to Caring by Drs Larry Crabb and Dan Allender, as well as the study of biblical texts which address this subject. This class will be interactive, with time devoted to discussion and encouraging one another. How so? We will pray for one another in the class in areas we feel in need of encouragement.
